When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. Lao Tzu
Surrender and Learn to Let Go:
Surrendering doesn’t mean we give up. Too often we try to control the outcome of situations we were never in control of. Most of the events in our life take place out of our control – the traffic jams, the queues at the supermarket, waiting for the train or bus that always seems to be late.
Instead of wasting your energy and emotion on situations you can’t control, simply let go the illusion of control. Focus on those things close to you that you can control, where you have a real choice as to how you respond. Think about whether your choice really can change the outcome; if it can’t, let go …
Children have even less control, and these days it seems their lives are almost as busy as ours. So it’s important that children are left to focus on the things they can have direct control over, and that we help them understand it’s ok to let go of things they can’t change. In short, don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t worry … be happy!
