New Classes and Black Belt Attitude: Success

“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed” ― Michael Jordan

Each week we discuss a Black Belt Attitude topic with the kids in our Warrior Talk. This week the topic is Success. Please pass this on to as many people as you can. Like dropping a pebble in a pond, the ripples can have a significant effect on someone else’s life.

Success means different things to different people, and as we get older and hopefully wiser it leads to a simpler, more profound way of living. It doesn’t necessarily have to mean winning, small improvements and steady progress will help you to keep moving forward on your own path.

In your martial arts training there will be peaks and troughs, times of self doubt. What matters is how you respond to these situations, and that you continue to walk your own path. Train consistently, through the ups and downs, and just keep chipping away. Be careful of distractions or the need for more, this will give rise to impatience … all that you need is right where you are.

Ultimately, the greatest success is to be yourself, express yourself honestly and have faith in the person you know you are.

IMPORTANT DATES
The next major Grading will be Sunday June 19
Final Kid’s Saturday class for Term 2 – June 25
Final Kid’s Tuesday class for Term 2 – June 28

NEW KID’S CLASSES
Great news – we’re adding more kid’s classes at the Subiaco PCYC to our Timetable on Wednesday afternoons starting from next week, May 11. Please see the times below – if you would like to add or move your child to one of our new classes on a Wednesday please let me know personally.

We’re also introducing a new class for kids aged 12-14 on Wednesdays called All Stars. The All Stars program is tailored for 12-14 year olds that are developing into strong adolescents that need a more robust level of training. All Stars is the bridge to achieving a Junior Black Belt and/or a transitioning into our adults program, and will ensure they are continually challenged in a safe but demanding training environment.

If your child is currently 12-14 years of age we encourage them to move to the All Stars class starting May 11. If it is not possible to switch to the All Stars class on Wednesdays your child can remain in their current Super Stars class on Tuesday or Saturday.

New Wednesday class times:
Bright Stars (5-6yrs) 4:00-4:30 p.m
Bright Stars (7-8yrs) 4:40-5:10 p.m
All Stars (12-14yrs) 5:20-6:10 p.m

BECOMING AN INSTRUCTOR
If you’re interested teaching Martial Arts we have a comprehensive training program in place to become a qualified Instructor for Adult and/or Children’s classes. Email me if you’d like more information on starting the journey to becoming an Instructor.

MONDAY MOTIVATION

DON’T STOP NOW
As we move towards Winter and the cold and wet days start to set in, the temptation to slacken off your training will grow. We’ve all been there, but now is exactly the time to ramp things up. Make a commitment to yourself that you’ll train at least once every week. If you do miss a session though, don’t beat yourself up about it. Let it go, keep moving forward and just try to make it to the next class.
